PASSION FRUIT (PASSIFLORA EDULIS)

In Indonesia it is known as Markisa fruit





1 month old plant

The plant has 5 to 6 year age span of life. One markisa plant will yield 25 pieces of fruit during great harvest in May and December. One hectare of land can yield 20 tons of markisa fruit.

The selling price for the passion fruit i bought now is RM12 per kilo.

It take 10 month to grow and have the 1st. harvest. The plant required 60 to 80 days from pollination to maturity.










The passion fruit shape is round to oval. It have a hard outer skin and when mature it is yellow or dark in purple. The interior is juicy filled with a black seeds and the aroma is nice. scoop out the sweet juicy pulp with a spoon after the fruit cut into half. It can be swallowed whole.



The passion fruit is known to be high in in vitamin A, pottasium and dietary fiber.





Passion fruit juice also consider to have good and high contain of vitamin C (ascorbic acid)

It is traditionally eaten during Yuanxiao, or the Lantern Festival. But today you don't have to wait so. And you can come to this stall to enjoy the "Best Tangyuan".

Tangyuan is a Chinese food made from glutinous rice flour. The glutinous rice flour is mixed with a small amount of water to form balls and is then cook and served in boiling water. Tangyuan can be either small or large, and filled or unfilled.

I am eating the super large Tangyuan where it is infilled with the chopped peanut and sugar. Beside this it have a sweet dessert soup ('tong sui' in Cantonese) and the aroma of the ginger.

DELICIOUS!

Honey Nangka (Jackfruit )

Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus) is a species of the tree in mulberry family (moraceae). It is largely grown in tropical climates. Of course, it can be found in Malaysia at Jalan Abang Haji Openg, TTDI sold by the road side fruit seller.

The flesh and the seeds can be eaten. It is sweet and delicious. The flesh have variety of crunchy type and mushy texture type. Normally seeds are roasted before consumption. There are people use jackfruit in their curries cook.

Poon Choy (Big Bowl Dishes)


Wow! Variety of dishes in a huge platter or stainless basin. Below is a stove for heating up. Wah! What is inside there? I can see Scallop, Tiger Prawns, Poached Chicken, layers of 'Sang Choy' and Pork Rib. What is below the second layer? O.... there is Abalone, Roast Duck, Bai Chang Fish (boneless fillet), Braised Chicken Feet...... that i like most. Wah! Tong Po York ( braised pork), beancurd sheet, mushrooms,clams and rice noodles. GO N TRY IT if u have 10 person. Call in advance for the Poon Choy.

Of course, i try the pork oil rice, teapot soup and the pucuk paku (wild fern shoots).
